One of our New World favorites, Plasencia Cigars, is releasing a limited-edition blend to coincide with this year’s FIFA World Cup. The cigar, named Ehtëfal, is being presented on November 19 in Doha, Qatar, the host city of the World Cup. Later in November, Ehtëfal will then be shipped worldwide.
Ehtëfal means “celebration” in Arabic. For Plasencia Cigars, the World Cup is a celebration where the world comes together after the last difficult years. Nestor Andrés Plasencia of Plasencia Cigars says this cigar is perfect for celebrating the soccer matches taking place in Qatar.
Plasencia made the Ehtëfal cigar in Nicaragua and is only available in one vitola. Toro 6 x 52 ring gauge. The blend features a sun grown wrapper from the Jalapa region of Nicaragua, a binder from Honduras, and a filler from Nicaragua. All of the tobacco for this blend is grown on the farms of the Plasencia family and is aged for about ten years. The profile of the blend is in the medium to full-bodied range.
Manufacturers are branding their products with a tribute to the local culture and language of Qatar. Ehtëfal is available in boxes of 10 and has a suggested price of $65 per cigar or $650 for the box. Plasencia Ehtëfal is a limited production line. Only 2,500 boxes are destined for the U.S. market and the same number for the international market.
