Key Features

You can arrange your cigar collection on four drawers on metal slides with three adjustable dividers per drawer. There is a removable tray with two adjustable dividers at the bottom.

You can store your cigar collection in four drawers on metal rails with three adjustable dividers per drawer. At the bottom is a removable tray with two adjustable dividers.

Conveniently, the drawers slide easily so that you can reach the back of the drawer easily. You can adjust the space in the drawer to suit your needs and keep the various sticks organized. Filling up the water reservoir is a bit of a hassle. It is located in the lower rear part of the interior. Another inconvenience is that the control and humidity sensors are located in the back corner and can easily be blocked by cigar boxes, so you will not get accurate readings. But you can live with that when it comes to properly aging so many cigars.

The Redford cigar cabinet has a control panel on the top of the door. Temperature and humidity are electronically adjustable. On the control panel, you will find the condensation control and you can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. You can save your favorite settings in the system’s memory. The control panel resembles that of a modern oven or refrigerator.

The built-in LED lighting frame makes it easy to show off the beauty of your cigars on any shelf of the humidor, day or night. Your cigars are safe with the lock and key. The humidor is suitable for retailers with limited space to display and store stogies. Humidity is also safe, thanks to the refrigerator-like door seal.

Pros

  • Suitable for a large collection of cigars.
  • There is a convenient control panel.
  • LED lighting.
  • Easy to pull out drawers.
  • The humidor reliably provides a stable internal climate.

Cons

  • Inconvenient placement on the water reservoir.
  • The control sensors can be covered, and the temperature and humidity readings will be incorrect.

Packaging and shipping

The humidor arrives on the appointed day in a well-protected wooden box strapped to a pallet. You will need a screwdriver to unpack the humidor.

Your Elegant Bar offers free shipping, a no risk damage policy, and an easy return policy if you are not satisfied with your product.

Exterior

The Rеdford Lite electric humidor cabinet is a well-crafted, sturdy solid oak construction. It is 26 inches wide, 26 inches deep, and 52.75 high: typical for one of the refrigerator size humidors. However, we would have expected it to be slightly larger to hold a thousand cigars.

The door is made of a stainless steel frame and tinted glass. Your cigar collection needs to be protected and Redford Lite provides that protection. There is a safety lock and keys.

Interior

The cigar cabinet has four shelves on metal rails and a removable tray with two dividers. The shelves are designed as drawers so your stogies will not roll to the floor when you slide the shelf out. The top two shelves are tipped forward. There are three adjustable dividers on each shelf. All shelves and the tray are made of Spanish cedar.

There is a soft LED lighting on the frame of the door. The lighting illuminates all the shelves. Although the LED does not emit temperature, we would not recommend leaving the lighting on for an extended period of time if you have many individual sticks in the coolidor.

The reservoir is located in the lower back of the electric humidor. You will need to remove the tray and slide out the unit consisting of a fan and two reservoirs with tin lids. You can fill the reservoir with distilled water (not tap water!) or propylene glycol humidification solution and put the reservoir unit back in place. You can also use Boveda packs as humidifier.

Two fans provide good ventilation: one on the floor and one on the ceiling of the cigar cooler.

Setup and Seasoning

After installation, when you open the door for the first time, you will feel the pleasant scent of cedar.

To set up the Redford, we filled the reservoir with distilled water and set the desired RH to 75%. Although this is an electric humidor that automatically maintains the internal climate, inserting a few sticks may not significantly affect the humidity. We prefer to be sure that all the cedar has absorbed enough humidity.

As you can see in the graphic below, Redford reached the desired humidity fairly quickly. Three days was enough. At the end of that day, we placed our test cigars in the humidor. At the end of the fourth day, we filled the reservoir with propylene glycol solution and set the humidity to 70%. You can see that we lost 2% RH of the results for humidity due to this process. From the fifth day, the graphic is a boring flat line at 70% RH.

Redford Lite Setup Humidity

This setup was in the middle of June. The temperature was 86 0F. So, the first SMARTRO value is more like the outside temperature. And how to season a humidor like Redford lite? Simple! When it comes to temperature, you have what you set on the control panel for a few hours. After that, there are no significant temperature fluctuations that could affect the result of the day.

Redford Lite Temperature Setup

Capacity

In one of the top humidors, you can fit 1250 cigars. And yes, again, the number depends on the vitola and the packaging of the cigars. There is a lot of space in Redford Lite and you can put a lot of cigar boxes in it. The cedar dividers are helpful in keeping your cigar collection organized. But if you do not want them, you can remove them all at once.

Seal

The seal is absolutely like the seal of a refrigerator. It is a heavy-duty system that protects your sticks from harmful climate changes outside the humidor.

Humidification System

The humidification system relies mainly on the reservoir with the auxiliary fan in the lower rear part of the humidor. The system is electronically controlled. You can set the humidity level in a range of 56%-78% RH. If the RH level gets too high and the glass fogs up, the automatic de-mist feature lowers the excessive humidity and keeps the glass free of condensation. De-humidification function also balances the humidity. This could be the best humidor cabinet.

Hygrometer

The electronic hygrometer is conveniently located on the top panel. It is on the outside of the humidor, so it is easy to read and you do not have to open the door to check the humidity level. What is a humidor without a hygrometer? Fortunately, the Redford has one and it works quite accurately.

Thermometer

The digital thermometer is located next to the hygrometer. With electric cabinet humidors, the thermometer is how the unit tells you the temperature you have chosen. Redford can maintain a temperature from 410F to 710F.

Thermostat

Redford lite comes with a heating and cooling system. You must be careful not to block the control sensors with cigar boxes. You will otherwise get inaccurate readings and the system will not be able to maintain the desired conditions for your cigars.

Performance

Redfort Lite Cigar Test (before)

The three La Flor Dominicana El Jocko cigars were 66% RH when we placed them in the humidor. After the initial setup, we poured propylene glycol solution into the container and set the humidity to 70%.

Redford Lite Humidity test

During the test month, the humidity ran almost straight and there were no significant differences between the readings of the built-in hygrometer and the control SMARTRO hygrometer. We changed the shelf where we placed the control hygrometer to see if there were any differences in RH between the different levels of the humidor. Whether you are surprised or not, there are not.

Redford Lite Temperature test

The temperature graphic is a boring flat line. There were minor changes in temperature and humidity when we placed the test cigars, changed the level of the SMARTRO, or refilled the reservoir. The desired values were achieved for a few hours.

Redford Lite Cigar test (after)

La Flor Dominicana El Jocko came out at 70% RH after the month in Redford lite for this review, and the stogies came out at 70% RH. The sticks were as flavorful as ever. They burned well for about an hour. The smoke that came out of them was opulent.

Comparison and Alternatives

The Redford is a great humidor for those who have an extensive cigar collection and plenty of space, but if this is not the case for you, there are other options for cigar storage.

If you are a novice cigar aficionado and only have a few cigars that you want to store properly, the Case Elegance Renzo humidor is the right choice. The Renzo provides adequate storage for up to sixty cigars and you can keep it on your table. The humidification system that comes with it is extremely convenient and easy to use. This high-quality humidor is a wise investment for your new hobby. The Renzo is far more affordable compared to the Redford Lite. You do not have to spend too much money at the beginning of your new passion.

For those of you who are already more experienced aficionados and know what you prefer when it comes to long-term storage of your sticks, the NewAir 250 Count. It is smaller than the Redford and easier to fit in your home. It measures 13.6×19.3×18.5 inches. On the other hand, the storage capacity is 250 cigars, depending on the vitola. It also offers precise temperature control from 52 to 74 0F.

The Deauville Leaf Inlay is the right choice for a slightly more advanced novice smoker and you prefer a humidor without a glass top. If you have between 60 and 125 cigars that you want to store and age properly, the Deauville is perfect for you. It offers your sticks an interior made of Spanish cedar, where your favorite cigars can age wonderfully.
