Key Features

It’s nice to be able to take a look at the smooth wrappers and show your friends what you have. And the tempered glass on top gives you that opportunity.

The walnut appearance is an elegant addition to your office or home lounge space.

The felt-lined drawer is a handy feature. Everything you need for a smoking session is in one place: a cutter, a lighter, and a travel case, or anything else you can put in it and find useful.

An innovative humidification system makes the Renzo easy to maintain and keeps your cigars fresh.

Many consider it the best humidor.

Pros

  • A glass lid.
  • Tight seal.
  • Low maintenance and season humidification system.
  • Pre-calibrated digital hygrometer that you can check without opening the humidor.
  • A drawer for storage.

Cons

  • There is no lock.
  • The disadvantage of the glass lid is that you have to make sure that your humidor is not exposed to direct sunlight.
  • No ventilation, so you have to open the humidor lid once a month to ventilate your cigars.

What’s included

In the package, you will find a printed, detailed manual where you can read or scan the QR code and watch videos on how to use your glasstop humidor. There is a website where you can register your product and get a warranty. You will know the answer to “how do humidors work?”

The product comes with two bottles of humidification solutions for different climates, a pack of gel crystals, a hydro tray, and a hydro stick.

You should consider becoming a member of the Klaro Membership Program. This way, you will receive supplies for one year of maintenance for your humidor.

Packaging and shipping

Renzo comes with insufficient packaging and the finish can be easily damaged in transit. Our humidor packaging had almost no insulation between the box and the product. There was a thin polyethylene foam wrap and only one block of insulation. Fortunately, it was not damaged during shipping.

Shipping and returns are free of charge.

Exterior

The size of the Renzo is standard if there is such a thing as a standard size for desktop humidors. The width of the humidor is 8.5 inches, its depth is 9 inches, and the height is 5.4 inches.

This humidor is a handmade wooden construction with lots of real Spanish cedar. This adds a wonderful wood aroma to the experience, but does not affect the aroma of the cigars. We are pleased that the manufacturer planted a tree when we purchased this humidor, as they partner with Trees for the Future.

One of the best desktop humidors.

Interior

The entire interior is made of Spanish cedar. You will feel it when you open your Renzo for the first time. There are two trays inside: a cedar tray for cigars, and one plastic Hydro tray with a lid for storing the humidification solution and gel crystals.

It would have been exquisite if there was lighting, but there is not.

Setup and Seasoning

With two humidor solutions, a pack of gel crystals and a Hydro tray, you can easily set up and store your humidor. Setup takes about six days and seasoning is easy with propylene glycol solutions for different climates and seasons.

Depending on the climate in your area, you should use the regular propylene glycol solution or the extra-strength humidor solution for winter and dry climates. If you do not reach 68-70% humidity after three to six days, try adding the extra-strength solution to the tray, close the lid and wait a few more days.

Capacity

You can accommodate about sixty Petit Coronas and about twenty Toros. It all depends on the size and flavor profile of your stogies. If you have cigars with different flavor profiles, you will need to use more space for dividing them and less for storing them.

Seal

The required tightness here is the result of the combination of some features. The glass and the solid wood make the lid heavier, so it fits better. Magnets are incorporated into the construction of the lid and box. Another feature that contributes to the tight seal is the custom hinges. Last but not least, the cedar coamings contribute the humidity retention. When the coamings absorb moisture during the setup or seasoning, they expand and fit tighter.

Humidification System

The humidification system is really innovative. It consists of a plastic tray with a lid, into which you pour a humidification solution. Depending on the climate in your area, you should use the regular propylene glycol solution or the extra-strength humidor solution for winter and dry climates.

There is also a Hydro Stick to separate cigars with different flavor profiles and quickly adjust the humidity. If you want to add a little more humidity to your sticks, you can add a few drops of the humidification solution to the Hydro Stick.

Hygrometer

Case Elegance uses a European sensor to get extremely accurate readings. So far, our digital hygrometer is working fine. We check the readings about every three months, along with the seasoning of the humidor.Renzo’s digital hygrometer for humidor is designed to be completely sealed with silicone. No air can enter or escape from the humidor through the hole for the hygrometer.

Thermometer

Thermal control is provided by a digital thermometer integrated into the hygrometer system.

Thermostat

You cannot control the internal temperature of the humidor. So, you need to monitor the temperature in the room where you keep your humidor.

Performance

Renzo Setup

The three La Flor Dominicana El Jocko cigars were 67% RH when we put them in the humidor.

Renzo test with cigars (before)

During the entire test month, the humidity was almost constant and the readings of the built-in hygrometer and the control hygrometer were mostly identical.

Month Aging Renzo

After the month in the Renzo, the cigars were at 70% RH. Numbers aside, the smoking experience was as wonderful as we have come to expect from smoking La Flor Dominicana El Jocko. The burn was even and the burn line was an almost straight line. The flavor profile of cream with cedar and nuts did not change noticeably. Neither in strength nor in the blend of the different notes.

Comparison and Alternatives

Even though the Renzo is one of the best humidors, it may not be the best option for you. There are more alternative options for you to choose from.

If you need more space for your cigars and more precise temperature control, the NewAir 250 Count is the humidor for you. With NewAir, you can adjust the internal temperature from 52 to 74 degrees. The name represents the number of sticks you can store in this humidor. You also get ventilation that distributes moisture better and you no longer have to move and roll your stogies in the humidor.

The Redford Cabinet Humidor offers even more room for cigars. You can fit up to 1250 cigars in it. This is your choice if you have enough space to accommodate this humidor. This option offers an even wider temperature range for your cigar collection. The Redford lite also offers good ventilation so that every stick in the humidor gets the same humidity.

Maybe you do not like the glass top, then the Deauville Leaf Inlay might be your best choice. It also offers a larger storage capacity. You can store up to 125 cigars in it. With the Deauville, you can be sure that no light can spoil your stogies.
